You count on your computing devices more than any other tool you have. Making sure to get one of the top ten laptops on the market will pay for itself in productivity, and maybe more importantly, lack of frustration.
Here are the key points we focused on in bringing you this laptop buying guide:
- Reliability: Failures cause considerable downtime and data loss.
- Performance: Less time waiting means more productivity, and longer times between upgrade cycles.
- Battery Life: No one wants to frantically search for a power outlet in the middle of important work.
- Portability: Reducing unnecessary size and weight takes a literal load off of your shoulders and keeps you agile.
All of the laptops on this page score very well on these criteria. With today’s competitive manufacturing market, you don’t even have to buy the most expensive laptop, just the results of the research on this page.
Read on to find the perfect notebook for you.
Best Business Laptops: The One Size Fits All
In the 14 inch laptop to 15.6 inch laptop range you will find the best all around performers that score good to great in our 4 key criteria (Reliability, Performance, Battery Life, Portability). Unless you need absolutely stellar marks in one of those categories, this group of notebooks is for you.
Macbook Pro 15 Inch
It’s very difficult to find fault in the new Macbook Pro series. The build quality of the aluminum body is unmatched by other manufactureres. The Apple Macbook Pro retina display is the best viewing experience we’ve ever had on a notebook computer. If it hasn’t already, the multi-touch enabled trackpad will make every other input device feel inferior.
If the Macbook Pro specs aren’t enough to sway you, it’s also the only model series of laptops that can legally run both the Apple and Windows operating systems meaning that there is almost no business software that this machine cannot run. p>
Lenovo Thinkpad T450s
The thinkpad series of laptops has decades of top reviews for business use. Users will often cling to favorite models years longer than normal upgrade cycles because “They just work”.
If you are working within an IT system that doesn’t support Apple products, it’s almost certain you’ll see plenty of Lenovo Thinkpads around the office.
This 14 inch laptop, the successor to the extremely popular T440s packs a serious punch, while still remaining extremely portable. If you’re firmly in the pc laptop camp, for the same amount, you can get more performance than the Macbook, excellent reliability, albeit with a bit less attention to detail.
17 Inch Laptop: The Powerhouse
You want absolute performance, and these desktop replacements will provide it for you. As with any laptop of this size, you will give up some portability in order to get what you want, but thanks to ever shrinking technology, the model we have selected won’t require you to hit the gym to move around.
Lenovo Y70 Touch
Having another spectacular Lenovo product on the list shouldn’t be a surprise as it is one of the best laptop brands for getting real work done. This model comes power packed with a Core i7 processor, gobs of RAM, an SSD (Solid State Drive), and to top it all off, a touch enabled screen. These days, the best 17 inch laptop is highly competitive with standalone desktop workstations. As one of the best rated laptops in the category, the Lenovo Y70 is sure not to disappoint on the performance front.
If you haven’t yet used an SSD laptop, you’ll be amazed at how much faster they startup, load programs, and improve user experience.
To complete the power packed features, the Y70 features an Nvidia 860M dedicated graphics card with it’s own 4GB of RAM. This card was designed for highly demanding gaming systems, so it will breeze through all but the most demanding business graphics work. You can see what this card is capable of in this Laptop Gaming Guide.
If you want a laptop with the power, and screen size to do it all, the laptop ratings don’t lie, this is the mobile workstation for you.
Best 13 Inch Laptop: The Lightest Laptops
If you’re constantly on the go, this is the group for you. Easy to pick up and fit into even the smallest of computer bags, these systems are always just a quick grab away from getting your job accomplished wherever you may be.
Macbook Pro 13 Inch
The smaller of the Macbook Pro models is a shoe in under this category. It has the same attention to detail of it’s larger sibling, with some of the best portability you could ask for. In our opinion, it’s the best lightweight laptop on the market. If you’re trying to decide between this, and the larger 15 inch model, it’s really a choice of weight and size versus performance, but you can’t lose with either.
Recent upgrades have made this super mobile system a Macbook Pro with retina display creating one of the best viewing experiences that you could ask for.
Dell XPS 13
Dell has really raised the bar with one of the thinnest laptops ever made. If portability is what you want, this system comes in at an amazingly low 2.6lbs. There is almost no wasted space with this notebook. Bezels around the screen are some of the smallest we’ve seen. Even though it’s a full sized 13 inch laptop, it’s much smaller than the competing Macbook .
They’ve really focused on build quality this time around as well. Check out the introduction video here:
Be sure to watch for the amazingly thin bezels on the new infinity screen.
If portability is your number one criteria, it’s almost impossible to beat the XPS 13 in a non netbook laptop. We didn’t know a full size system could be made this small.
Also included is the latest generation of Intel’s CPU that should give stronger performance than the competing Macbook until it is upgraded to similar internals.
We didn’t expect such serious competition in this section, but Dell has done an outstanding job.http://www.blogtrepreneur.com/2015/04/26/best-business-laptop/
